The plant is identical to Japanese gampi, but as in the situation of the Thai kozo, this fiber is different due to climate and growing conditions. Because of the high cost of gampi grown in Japan, the Philippine variety is now widely used by Japanese papermakers, even though the finished paper is so different.
Don't forget to cook this product with Soda Ash to effectively break down fibers, and we recommend Formation Aid (PEO) for use in Asian style sheet formation.
