This workshop will explore sheet formation with raw flax and cottonized hemp.
Participants will form sheets using high and low shrinkage pulps and explore the variations in texture, color, and drainage of the fibers.
Cooked but unbeaten Thai Kozo will be used to create bark lace, a technique that exposes the internal matrix-like structure of the fiber. Participants will also be able to use the kozo as a line to create imagery on their flax and hemp sheets.
Participants will leave the workshop with a stack of lovely handmade paper that reflect the qualities of these raw fibers.
