Each participant will create an array of papers from Kozo (mulberry) grown at Carriage House here in Brooklyn, as well as Thai Kozo and Japanese Mitsumata. This will be a very busy 2 days, as we first cut down the kozo tree and then  delve into fiber preparation, cooking, beating (both mechanically and by hand), sheet forming and drying on boards. Authentic Japanese sugetas will be used.

Workshop meets each day from 10 am to 4 pm with a break for lunch.

Please note: This workshop will take place at Donna's studio, 1 mile away from Carriage House and all fiber preparation will take place outdoors in her garden.

This is one of Donna's favorite workshops to teach. We cut down a tree on Saturday morning, and leave Sunday afternoon with lovely paper made from that very tree.
