Day 1 Overview of fibers and pulp preparation, sheet forming, and drying techniques. Students will pigment pulps for use throughout the workshop and experiment with various ways to create images within the vat (marbling, multiple dips, deckle box)
Day 2 Paper casting and embedding. Students will experiment with armature/laminate casting as well as low-relief mold casting. Embedding, embossing, and wet-collage techniques will also be introduced as methods for adding subtle dimension to paper works.
Day 3 Stenciling and paper finishing techniques. We will continue to explore the image making techniques explored on Day 1. We will discuss different ways to work with papers once they have dried with various surface sizing and finishing techniques.
