Description »
Elaine and Sidney Koretsky documented the making of pith paper, usually called "rice paper", although the material has nothing to do with rice and is not paper in the strict sense. The 1987 silent film was converted into the digital format and produced as a DVD. The film thoroughly depicts the process of making this material, first made in China in the 3rd century. The pith used is obtained from the Tetrapanax papyrifera plant. Running time: 10 minutes. 1987
